Carnival Sunshine Day 5 - San Juan

We woke up to yet another rainy day. Luckily, it did not last long.  We were going to be in port this day the longest, 8 am to 4 pm.  After a rainy morning, it finally cleared up. And it got muggy.

We got off the boat and walked around. They had booths set up with people selling everything.  We decided on a few gifts for the girls and then shopped some more.

After we were done shopping, we had no clue what to do next.  We decided to go visit the national park of San Juan.  It was very similar to our military park here in Vicksburg but only as far as marketing pieces, etc. The park overlooked the water with some AMAZING views.  It was still drizzling rain some but we made the most of it.  We basically paid $10 to take some great photos.

We are, obviously, not good at the whole 'seflie' thing...

After lunch, we decided to head back toward the boat.  We came up on some dancers in the street.  We thought the girls would love seeing this so we took lots of pictures and a video.  They were not as amused as we thought but oh well.

After the park, we headed back to the 'square' with more booths, etc.  Hubby wanted to go back to the boat to eat but I wanted to eat in town.  We compromised and found a cute little restaurant/bar that was not busy.  We ordered some food and although not authentic Puerto Rican food, it was pretty awesome.  This coming from someone who hasn't each much fried food in months but it was extremely tasty. And super unhealthy. And worth every bite.

We walked around a bit more just to be on stable ground for a bit longer.

There is a HUGE bright green lizard/salamander thingy on the sign that jumped from the sign to the tree as soon as we took the picture!

See ya later San Juan! Glad I went but not sure I ever have to go back.

Then we got back on the boat and headed to the water slides!  After a few trips down, we headed to the pool.  IT WAS COLD.  That water was fierce!  I was able to sit in it for a while but never fully submerged.  The pool is so cold because of the water fall that flows to it from the hot tub above.

After showers and getting dressed up, we headed for our nightly routine of dinner and shows.

Next up, GRAND TURK. The finale of our ports of call was by far the best of all.  I promise I will get to it before next year!
