Carnival Sunshine Day 6 - At Sea

The last full day of our cruise was a 'Sea Day.' Bobby and I had planned where we would set up to get maximum sun for the entire day.  This was such a laid back day and I did a LOT of reading and napping.  Oh, I have dreams of days like this!

We enjoyed the show at dinner where the wait staff all sang "Leaving on a cruise ship" and we found out that one of the waiter's (from the Philippines) wife had given birth to TWINS that day (or the day before).  Since Lisa has twins, she found him after dinner to ask about them and to see pictures.  He didn't have any yet.  He said they would Skype later.  So sad. And he would be on the ship for another 3 months before going home to see them. Perspective.

We went to the final show, which was BY FAR, the best.  Basically, it was 80's rock. Right up mine and Lisa's alley!

The cast came out after the show to take some pics.  They were a fun group. We got to see some of them in Grand Turk at Jack's Shack.

We hung out and listened to some music, then went to pack up so we could get off the ship first thing in the morning. Boo!

Here are a few pics of inside the ship.

Our messy room!

We had a GREAT time with our best friends.  It was relaxing to literally unplug for 5-6 days.  We missed our kids and I am sure my parents were happy to see us come home but I think every couple needs to enjoy some 'couple' time so you don't get lost between kids' activities, etc.  So when you become empty nesters, you don't have to relearn everything about each other.

We are so thankful that we have family that are willing to take care of our girls for an entire week.  This would not have been possible without them! So thanks Mom and Dad!  We appreciate it more than you know.

On the LOONNNGG drive home, the boys were already googling our next trip. Which won't be any time soon.  My piggy bank needs to rest up.  Maybe Disney in a few years...

Carnival Sunshine Day 5 - Grand Turk

This was our last day in port and by far, the BEST.  We had AMAZING weather and y'all?  Grand Turk was beautiful.  White sandy beaches with water so amazingly blue that you could actually see your toes when the water was almost over your head.

This was also a later port day so after a run around the super boring track and breakfast and a shower, we watched us dock in from the top deck of the ship. We basically had front row seats.  This one wasn't quite as dramatic as St. Thomas but still cool!

As soon as we got off the boat, we walked around trying to find the 'perfect' spot. If you head to the right of the ship, there are lots of rocks so it's hard to get in the ocean and swim.  Lisa and I decided to head over to a place she'd heard lots about.  On the left side of the dock we more sandy beach.  We passed Margaritaville and headed to a place called Jack's Shack.  The name says it all. It's a building with souvenir shop and a grill and bar outside.  They set up chairs for free but you have to pay for an umbrella. A bargain!

The water in front of Jack's Shack was the MOST BEAUTIFUL I have ever seen.  And they have 2 dogs that have the best life there.  One is Topher.  He's a golden doodle who even has a drink named after him.  He LOVES to dig in the sand.  He and Bobby had the best time playing together. I am sure he sleeps well at night. The other dog slept under an umbrella pretty much the entire time.

Another good thing about Jack's Shack is that they have free Wifi. Granted, you have to be up by the bar but there is good enough reception to at least check your email. I will admit, this was the first time I 'checked in' with home.  Everything was just fine.  It was nice to really be able to unplug for this long. And READ. Oh, I love and miss reading books!

Hard to see us but I LOVE this one.

We did nothing else this day except swim and sunbathe and people watch.  Oh, and played with Topher.  We could not have asked for a better last day at port.

I did a little shopping just before getting back on the ship and by then it was almost dark. The MOST amazing sunsets happen at sea.

We took a few pics (selfies? usies?  I don't know the terms.) and then showered and headed to dinner.  We were supposed to have a new comedian but his flight was delayed in San Juan so we had the same guy again.  So, we skipped the comedy show.

We  listened to some live music and went to the nightly show, which was Hasbro's Game Night.  It was fun even if they didn't pick Bobby to play!

We pretty much did the same thing every night. It was so jam packed full of things to do that there was no way to get them all done.

This was BY FAR my favorite day of the cruise.  Beautiful setting with my favorite people.  We also met a local at Jack's that gave us a little history and geography lesson. He actually got his degree in Barbados as an electrical engineer but came back to Grand Turk because he loved it so! He was super nice too.

Last up is our final day at sea! Will post tomorrow.
