My 7 year old has been to more concerts in her short life than I think I have in my 30+ years. And I'm totally fine with that.
I remember my first concert and I was probably 9? New Kids on the Block at Jackson's Veteran's Memorial stadium. We were sooooo far back but I thought it was the best thing ever!
Ok, back on topic.
This past Saturday night, Big Sister and I met up with my in-laws for Faith and Family night at the MS State Fair. I had directed a wedding that morning and lived through the beating of Texas A&M by my beloved Bulldogs, and the win of Ole Miss over Alabama. Needless to say, I was already tired!
We got there at about 6:15 and to our surprise, the concert started early at 6:30 instead of 7. Another band was added and we didn't know anything about it! Finding Favour was the opening act. They only sang 3 songs but they were awesome! They sing one of my favorite songs, 'Say Amen."
My pics are terrible from all the groups that performed.
The next group was Love and the Outcome. A husband and wife duo that are phenomenal singers. The wife sang and played the drum and keyboard ALL AT THE SAME TIME. That's talent my friends. The husband sang and played the bass. They were cute together. She came back out later and sang with another group.
Then came Colton Dixon. I've seen him before in concert and he's so talented and SOOOO on fire for the Lord.
Next up was Building 429. I've also seen them before but it was years ago before Big Sister was born. They are a little more rockerish than you would think but I enjoyed them. They've been around for a while now.
Last was who we wanted to see the most! MERCY ME! Big Sister has been asking to go see them for years. Yes, years. Ever since we started going to concerts.
They sing out favorite song and our anthem right now!
Greater is the one living inside of me than he who is living in the world. You are holy, righteous and redeemed!!!!
There'll be days I lose the battle, Grace says that it doesn't matter because the cross already won the war!
And if you have ever seen a musician sing live, sometimes they don't sound as good as their edited voices on the CD. Well, Bart Millard from Mercy Me's voice is amazing. I think it's almost better live. It's so strong and he has such a great message. I didn't know some of the things he shared about his personal life growing up. Powerful.
We really enjoyed them the most.
I caught this pic of some friends of ours who were sitting on the floor below us. That's my friend Tammy and her daughter and a friend. Sweet pic.
After the concerts were over, it was already 10:00. I was exhausted. But the fair was still going and Big Sister HAD to go try some things.
My daredevil on the carousel.
She also did some dragon thing that twirls around. I know, she's my cautious one. Thankfully.
She and her Meme did ride the sky lift together. Which is shocking as both of them are NOT fans of heights. But it kept us from having to walk all the way down the midway.
She went home with her Meme and I went home to bed. Of course, when I get home it was 12:30 am and I could not go to sleep. Oh well. I can make up for it later. When my kids are in college.
It was a super fun Saturday even though we crammed so much into it!
