Forgotten Pic

I totally forgot this photo when doing the lake life post last week.

Big Sister got to hold C all on her own. She LOVED it, til he spit up.  Luckily, it got on the couch (leather!) and not on her.  The whole way home she kept talking about how cute and sweet he is!

We agree!

Lake Life

A few weeks ago, we made a day trip to visit a few of our favorite people at Eagle Lake.  We love going on non-holiday weekends so there are less people.  My how things have changed.

Going to the lake with 2 kids and just me is hard work.  I'm constantly looking for each kid and I'm pretty much exhausted by the time we leave.   It's all worth it but man, I miss those weekends where we would hang out and play all weekend long.  With no responsibilities.

But, my kids love it so we still go.

We started out at my friend LB's house.  I didn't get any pictures there but she has a pretty sweet house and pier and awesome HUGE float to hang out in.  Baby Sister was NOT a fan though so we didn't stay in that long.

After lunch, we headed over to Firefly Hill to see our buddies F and C.  We also got to see another friend from the babysitter's so it was like one big daycare party!

My girl loves her some F and C!!!  I mean, walks in the sitter's every morning looking for C. ADORABLE.  I hope they all grow up to be best friends, like their mamas!

We had such a great time.  One kid sacked out before we ever even made it to the cotton gin and the other one was actually quiet in the car.  HUGE success if you ask me.

Thanks for inviting us over to play my friends!  I'm lucky to have friends with lake houses!

Happy 2nd Birthday AC!

Today is another special birthday!  My niece turns 2 years old today.  We celebrated her a few weeks ago.  I didn't get any pics of the birthday girl but I did get some of my kids on her (and Blake's) awesome water slide.

So Happy birthday to a sweet, feisty and fun girly girl who likes her baby dolls and her trucks!  You make our lives way more interesting now that you are in it!

Happy birthday AC!

First Haircut

Baby Sister had her first haircut last week.  She didn't get much cut off but she needed it.

Mrs. Rita is great with kids.  Especially now that she's a grandmother!  As of 2 weeks ago.

You can't really tell that she got anything cut but we got all the dead ends off so it looks a ton better.

She did great for her first time.  I think she sat more still than her sister did earlier in the day!

Happy Birthday Uncle Tony

Today is my big brother's birthday.  I won't give away his age but I'll just say this, he's getting old.  Sorry bro.  I'll be there in a few years.

Last weekend, I happened to be looking around my parents' house for some old photos to compare baby pictures.  I came across soem GEMS.  GEMS I tell ya.

So here you go.

Best buds, Tony and Casey.  Yes, they look exactly the same now. With a few more pounds and a few less hairs.  Just kidding. Neither of them are going bald.  Yet.

Man, you sure have a cute baby sister!

Happy birthday big brother.  Thanks for being the best brother in the world.  And my only brother.  But you are one awesome Uncle Tony to my kiddos too!

Be Deliberate

I had a lady tell me recently to be deliberate in every aspect of my life.

That's tough.

But, I've been thinking about those words a lot lately.

Deliberate.  To carefully weigh or consider something, study it.

Man, that's strong.  To carefully consider something.  How many people do that?

I know, when it comes to our children, we Moms carefully consider a ton of things.  What preschool to send them to?  What daycare to use?  Whether to stay at home or go back to work?  We consider all the pros and cons.  We nitpick every little detail.

Yet sometimes, we act without thinking at all.  Most times.  Mess with my kids?  You get the wrath of Mama.  And yeah, thinking?  Never crossed my mind.

Be deliberate in every aspect of your life.

Dave Ramsey teaches us to be deliberate with our finances.  Watch every penny you spend.  Know where it's going before it goes.  Tough I tell ya.  Budgeting is NOT one of my spiritual gifts.  I struggle with it.  Sometimes I wish I had married an accountant.  Sorry honey!  I also wish I had all the money I could ever need.  Then this budgeting would not even be an issue.  Plus, I would do some GREAT things with extra money.  I like to spread the love.

Be deliberate.

We learn from an early age about eating the right foods.  Less junk. More vegetables.  We know the right things to eat, but does that stop us from eating fried catfish or chicken?  NOPE.  To quote one of my favorite books, A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet by Boomama, "Because while I'm not good at much, gaining weight is something that I see to be able to do fairly effortlessly.  Perhaps I'm just gifted in that area."  This quote is me to a T!  I'm better at gaining it than losing.  But being deliberate about what I eat has gotten more important the older I get.  I have to plan and carefully consider every meal.  I have to plan out meals for the week so I'll know whether or not I have to go to the grocery store and if so, what to get.  I have to measure out my snacks.  I have to make sure I have enough fruits and veggies for me and my family to eat.

It gets exhausting.

School starts back for Big Sister in less than 2 weeks now.  So sad that her summer is almost over, when it seems as though it just began.  We get to start being deliberate with schedules again.  Uniforms again.

Being deliberate is no fun.  I think that's why it's easier to just go with the flow.

I'll be honest.  It was way easier to be more deliberate before my kids came along.  I guess because I had more time.  I feel like some days now I don't even have time to go to the bathroom alone, much less time to make a budget.  I used to LOVE having a super clean house.  Now?  I'm lucky if that floor gets swept once a week.  Call me a slob all you want.  I just chose to play instead of clean all the time.

Life tends to get in the way of being deliberate, of carefully considering anything.  Time has a way of getting away from us all.

The real question is how to we stay deliberate?  How do we make time?  How do we prioritize our activities?  Our life?  It's a full-time job to keep up with life.  To stay organized.

I just have to hope that my kids are healthy and happy.  The rest can wait.  Right now, they are the priority.  But I can't forget there are other things in my life.  My husband.  My friends.  My family.

I have to remember I can't be everything to everyone.  I can't control the person who shows up late every day and takes an hour and a half lunch and leaves at the same time I do every afternoon.  I can't control the person who can't keep their commitments.  I have to remember that I can only control ME.

All this is, of course, easier said that done.

And yes, I've carefully considered this post for quite some time.  It helps to get it all out there.

Be deliberate in every aspect of your life.

One Year Ago

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of our sweet Missy girl being gone.  She was a good dog (most of the time, minus the psycho part).  Every now and again Big Sister will ask about her, and then remember she's in Doggie Heaven.

I went back and re-read my post from last year.  Tough day but life goes on.

Tonight, I'll love on Sage a little bit more.

23 Months

So, Baby Sister was 23 months old on July 18th and I'm behind in my posting the latest.  I'm behind in most aspects of my life right now but that's a whole other post.  I've got BEACH on the brain, bad.  Plus, Big Sister starts back to school in 2 weeks.  MAN, 2 weeks.  The only plus is we are going to the beach in 3 weeks. Yep, after school starts.  Because I'm an awesome Mom.  And the fact that they changed school start date after we had already booked.  So, oh well. It's been approved by the principal so we are good!

Now, where have the past 23 months gone?  I blink and I have an almost 2 year old!

Next time I wake up, she'll be driving.....

Boring stats....
Diaper - Size 5.  I'm sure we'll be here til she's potty trained, which I'm in no rush for.

Weight -  No clue.  She's HEAVY.  Apparently I grow them tall and thick.  I would say she's 28 or 29 pounds by now.

Clothes - Still all 24 month or 2T.  Occasionally she can fit in an 18 month outfit but it's usually a tad too short.  So I've given most of those clothes away.

Sleep - We get it when we can. For some reason lately, she likes to get up about the time I go to bed.  Luckily, some of those nights the hubby is just getting home from work and he can deal with her and let me sleep.  Til the dog starts freaking out about something.  Thanks honey for letting me sleep.  I appreciate that.

Teeth -  I'm sure those back molars are still the root of the majority of our problems.

Activities - She got her 1st haircut last week.  I need to do another post just for that.  She LOVES her sister and her cousins.  For some reason, she is WAY clingier to me that to her Daddy.  Her sister was NOT this way so this is new for me.

This girl loves her some dolls.  One doll had to come in the car with us Saturday.  And into to Kroger.  And in to Tony and Holly's.  She's getting obsessed and I'm ok with it.  We have one NON girly girl and one that seems to be headed into the girly girl direction.  Maybe she will want to try dance one day?  Oh well if not.

She loves watching cartoons, especially Mickey Mouse.

She LOVES to dance!  And sing!  Or attempt to.

My girl still LOVES to swim. We tried a new life jacket at Aunt Jean's last weekend and she LOVED it.  I'm planning to get her one this weekend.  She no longer constantly hangs on me while in the pool.  Which is both good and bad.  She's soooo fearless.  We've been trying to work on blowing bubbles and 'swimming' so we'll see.

Eating - My girl loves to eat.  Just not a lot.  She'll eat a ton of stuff, just small amounts of it.  Honestly, I think she would be totally fine if she lived off of ice, goldfish, gummies, cheese, and milk!  Baby loves her milk.

Did I mention she loves the water?  In any form!

So next month will be the BIG 24 month post.  2 years old.  I can't believe it.  And I can't imagine life without our sweet and sassy 2nd child!

A Purple Party Day at the Lake

Our friend Frances turned 3 a few weeks ago so the 3 of us headed to Firefly Hill at the lake for her Purple Party.  It was Baby Sister's first time at the lake.  I think she liked riding in the boat the best.  Of course, she fell asleep but she fought it with all she had!

I didn't get a ton of pics because I was busy keeping up with 2 kids so here are a few I got.  And I'm sad that I didn't hardly get my hands on baby Sibley!  Next time for sure E!

Best buds!

Pure silliness!

Big Sister got to tube (again and still no pics, one day!) with her buddy!  She would do it all day long if I let her.

Thanks for letting us crash the party F!  I think all 3 of us had a great time because we crashed HARD when we got home.  And now I know for sure that I have 2 fish that live at my house and call me MAMA!
