I'm one proud gal!

I will be honest.  It was disappointing not to win a national championship.  Especially when it was soooo close.  We just didn't play as well as we had been the past few weeks.  Give credit to UCLA.  They are a darn good team.

I'm so proud of this Mississippi State baseball team.  Never an unkind word about ANYONE.  They like to have fun.  They call each and every guy on the team a brother.  You never find that in college sports.

I'm so glad I'm an MSU and was able to experience this.  Granted, it was from my living room and not in Omaha, but I was able to show my love for this team to my daughters.  Maybe one day they will be as obsessed as me (Your welcome Honey!).

No one says it better than MSU reporter, Bob Carskadon.  I had Bob's mom as a teacher at MSU.  One of my favorite.  Probably my favorite non-Communication professors.  Bob really puts his heart and love into writing about MSU sports.  He says everything I want to say about this Bulldog baseball team.

You can read it here.  Thank you Bob (not that he reads this, but you know, just in case)!  Oh, and yeah, I cried when I read his article.  'Cause I'm a dork.

I'm also proud of the MSU fans.  They FLOODED Omaha making the stadium Dudy Noble North and the announcers calling it Starkville, Nebraska (we won't mention the other comments from the drunk old announcer!!!).  I had friends there. Some ended up on TV (ha, Carolyn I felt ya!).  They supported this team all the way to the end.  And for all those 20,000+ fans that were in attendance, and those watching at home, I hope you are all now true baseball fans.  I'm sure many of you were just excited to be watching MSU play for a national championship in something, but baseball deserves the respect now.  I've always thought they did, but now everyone else is aware!  Now, come visit the Dude in the spring and let's work on getting them back to Omaha in 2014!

Wes Rea, our ginormous 1st baseman, summed it up last night too and sent this out via Twitter.

 Go Dawgs!

Go Dawgs!

Win or lose this week, I'm proud of my Bulldogs.  I will always kick myself for not making a trip to Omaha happen.  It's still pretty special.

Go Dawgs!  You've already won the hearts of America. Now, go win it for them!

Maroon Friday Edition - College World Series

Everybody knows I love my Bulldogs.  If you didn't, you must be living under a rock.  Just kidding!

My all-time favorite MSU sport is baseball.  I am not a bandwagon fan.  You can ask my friend Julie(Happy birthday SS #1)
We've been too MANY an MSU game with heaters and blankets and plenty with fans and lots of sweat.  We've cried.  We've cheered.  We've had heart attacks (not literally but CLOSE, have you watched our first 2 games of the CWS?  HEART ATTACK CENTRAL).

I've been a fan of MSU baseball for a longtime (and ok, sometimes a little over the top).  My brother went to baseball camp there when Will 'The Thrill' Clark was there.  I remember that team.  Man, they were good.

When I was in college, I wanted to be a Diamond Girl.  When I didn't make it 2 years in a row, I realized it was a blessing. Those girls (mostly) are there to find a husband!  Julie and I had the knowledge of the game and the team.

I will say, we had WAY more fun sitting in the chairbacks for many a year cheering them on!  We've done the 'chicken dance' so many times I've lost count.  We've experienced the SEC tournament at Hoover Met.  I can't wait to take my kids there one day.

The one thing we haven't experienced is the College World Series.  Well, actually IN Omaha.  I really wanted to go before they tore down the old Rosenblatt but it didn't happen.  One year, when the kids are older, I might have to take out a 2nd mortgage but I will (and Julie too!) make it to TD Ameritrade Park for the College World Series.

I know, I'm not a girly girl! haha. And this shocks? NO ONE.

I said early in this season that this year's team is special.  I follow a good many of them on Twitter.  I've seen them play in Starkville.

They are selfless.  They are humble.  They are the Cinderella team this year.

I'll take it.

They tweet Bible verses.  They tweet pics of their teammates.  They tweet thank yous to the fan.  They are good ole boys!

Every single interview I've seen this year with a player, NONE of them take credit.  They all say they couldn't do it without the rest of the team.

When I saw them play in Starkville MONTHS ago, one of the players 'walk out' song (when they come to bat, they pick the song that plays over PA system) was Chris Tomlin's Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies).  Pretty special when he comes to bat and you hear this:
I know Who goes before me
I know Who stands behind
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side
The One who reigns forever
He is a Friend of mine
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side

That guy?  Trey Porter.  A guy from a MS hometown (950 population) who had the game winning hit in our win Monday night.

See, special!

This ESPN article pretty much sums it up!

But, that article is still not my favorite.

This one is.  The team visited Omaha Children's Hospital on their day off yesterday.  Bob's story moved me to tears.  So special.

You never know what is going on with someone.  Or what they've been through.

This team is special.  Win or lose today or tomorrow, they have captured the hearts of America.  I could not be more proud to be an MSU Bulldog!

22 Months

So, Baby Sister was 22 months old on June 18th and I'm behind in my posting the latest.

Diaper - Size 5

Weight -  According to the Dr.'s scale, she's 29.7 pounds.  We had to go for a visit last week.  Apparently, we were/are teething (2 year molars) and/or had a fever virus.  No more fever but teething is still happening.

Clothes - We are getting her mostly in 2T clothes now as they are longer and my girl is tall!  Most of her sister's 2T clothes are for cold weather seasons so she's gotten a few new outfits lately.

Sleep -Apparently my girl has a love/hate relationship with sleep.  Due to the teething/fever virus/etc. we've had a lack of sleep as of late.  It's slowly getting better but Mama usually runs on 5-6 hours of sleep a night.  One night, bless it, I had 4 hours of interrupted sleep.  As in, I was up just about every hour of those 4 hours.  I was a zombie at work the next day.  My kids don't care that Mama has to go to work the next day.

One day, I will get more sleep.  Right?  Please tell me yes.

Teeth -  This is the ruler of all things evil right now.

Activities - We have fully entered the MINE stage.  Yep, every single thing is MINE MINE MINE.  Such a fun time.  We are working on this.  Other than that, she's still pretty much my happy all the time kid.  She likes to sing and dance with her sister to VBS music.  She LOVES to high five and fist bump (BOOM).

This girl is my girly girl.  I know people probably think it's weird that I have 2 girls and only one of them is into playing with baby dolls and princesses.  Granted, she loves building blocks but she would prefer to 'feed the baby' or push her doll stroller.

Thanks to her Big Sister, she likes watching TV.  Movies especially.  Although, she gets bored with it.  She would prefer to go to bed with the TV on every night but I'm not a fan so we don't do it often.  I will say that MSU baseball and The Duggars put her straight to sleep.  Pretty quick I might add!

She loves Dora and Mickey and Minnie and Jake and the Neverland Pirates the most.  We've tried to semi-steer her away from Dora since her sister was ALL about Dora for about 2-3 years.  Not sure Mama and Daddy can handle a ton of that squeaky voice yelling MAP MAP!

My girls LOVES to swim.  She loves the 'big bathtub' as we call our pool.  She lets me dunk her (don't go calling DHS, we are learning) and knows how to blow bubbles and spit out the water if it gets in her mouth.  She really needs swimming lessons but not many people do them for this young an age.  So, I'll keep working with her, for now.

Still uses the potty about once or twice a day.  I'm still not pushing at all.  But, I do have M&M's at home and at the sitter's for when she does go.

Eating - Our eating habits are still getting better.  She loves mac and cheese and green beans and asparagus.  We've been introducing more veggies to (all of) our diets.  Some of you who know me will be very proud of my colorful veggie selections lately.

I'm not rushing it but I'm so ready to celebrate Baby Sister's 2nd birthday.  Mainly because we are doing it at the beach and I can't wait to get there.  Since she loves the water in our pool, I can't wait to see how she's going to handle a condo with 5 pools and a splash pad and the beach!

Man, 22 months has FLOWN by.  I've enjoyed almost every minute, minus the lack of sleep and a few fits along the way.

Picture Wednesday

If any of you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you saw this picture posted over the weekend.

I know it's not the best pic, but we had movie night Friday.  We watched part of Oz, Great and Powerful.  Kinda weird.

I've never thought that Baby Sister looked like me.  Lots of people say she looks like my mom.  I've always thought she looked like her Daddy.

Until this picture.

I feel like I'm staring at my baby picture.

I'll have to see if I can steal a few pics from my baby book at my parent's to prove it.

Then, I'll let you guys decide.  All 5 of you who read this.

Happy Father's Day

Sorry this is late. I couldn't get the pics to do what I wanted so I just didn't post it. Today, I don't care!

Yesterday, we celebrated Dads!  Happy (belated) Father's Day to my Hubby and my Dad and Father in law!

(Overlook the serious bedhead.  Well, the girls' bedhead anyway!)

I know I give him a hard time but he's a good Daddy.  Our kids ADORE him and are both pretty much Daddy's girls.

We love you Daddy.  Thanks for usually being the 'fun' parent!

Happy Father's Day to my Daddy too!
He's one awesome Papaw!

He ADORES my children and they think he's pretty special.  Old as dirt but special.  He's always going on 'great adventures' with the grandkids and he doesn't slow them down at all!

We love all of you!  Happy (belated) Father's Day.

11 Years

Wow.  Today, the Hubby and I have been married for 11 years!  It honestly doesn't seem like that long.  But considering we have been together for 17 years, you would think we would be getting tired of each other.
(How is this even possible?  I can't be that old!)

I feel just the opposite.  Just when I think I can't love him anymore, I do.  Especially when he cleans my toilets.  I'm simple people!

It's not a secret that with children comes added stress to a marriage.  We are no different.  But we choose to parent together.  We ALWAYS communicate, whether verbal or not.

I'm proud to say I've been his wife for 11 years and counting!

Happy anniversary hubby!

I love you more today than yesterday!
Well, most of the time anyway.

The Apple Tree

Big Sister had a dentist appointment on Monday that we had rescheduled about 10 times.  We can't miss the first day of VBS or other important things just for a cleaning!

Her appointment was at 9:10 so she came to work with me for a little while.  She may drive me bonkers most of the time but she's so smart that it's scary.  She is already gunning for my boss' job!  We recently rearranged our office space so I'm in a new area. She noticed that I had a few extra desk pieces that were empty and not going to be used.  She asked if that could be her 'office.'  Who am I to deny that?

So, while I was in a meeting, she decorated her space.  My space is full of her artwork so I'm thinking I should draw her a pic to put up!

After she decorated her office, she made a book for me.

I don't know about you, but I'm impressed.  And I'm prejudice.

I present to you,
The Apple Tree.

(Notice the staples! She even made it like a book)

I'm so glad I took pictures of this one.  I'll cherish it forever.  And maybe I'll pull it out and read it when she hits adolescence and we both want to kill each other!

Summer Camp Success, I think

As I posted on Friday, my big kid went to camp over the weekend.  I was so excited for her. I knew she would have a great time! She is not old enough to go to camp for the whole week yet. That will come next summer.

She went to a camp called Warner Tully.  I went there as a kid and had a BLAST.  It's not far from where we live, only about 40 minutes, so I took off a little early Friday so the hubby and I could take her.

When we pulled in the front gate, she declared that she was NOT going to have ANY fun.  I'm not sure why but she said it.  And yeah, she ate those words.

After checking in and getting a t-shirt, we headed to her cabin.  She was in Cherokee with a cabin full of girls.  Some she knew, some she didn't.  I knew a few of them were going to be there because I wanted to make sure she would at least know someone!

We put the sheets on her bed and put down her bags and a pillow fight immediately broke out.  Her friend was already asking her to share a bunk with her.  She couldn't get us out the door fast enough.

This was the best I could get.  AS WE DROVE AWAY.

She looks 12 in this photo. :(

I could NOT wait til Sunday morning when I went to pick her up, bright and early.  I just KNEW she was going to go on and on and on about it.

As soon as I pulled up to the Mess Hall, they were eating pancakes.  She spotted me and immediately asked if she could spend 2 weeks at camp next year.

Mission complete.

Until we got in the car.  After we loaded up all her stuff, we went back inside to tell the counselors bye and thank you.  She did not want to do that.  I'm still not sure why but it was apparent the girl was T-I-R-E-D.  We'd had a long week with VBS, not feeling good, regular YMCA camp, and then Warner Tully.  My girl was exhausted.  She's like her Daddy and HAS to have at least 8-10 hours of sleep every night.

After riding in silence for a while, she finally opened up.  Once we made it to my parents to get dressed for church, she was telling them all about it.  I still haven't heard all the details like I thought I would and I might not ever, but I'm pretty sure she had a great time.  I know she will LOVE getting to go for an entire week next summer.  When she's 7.  She'll tell you that too.

If anybody has a girl 7 or older (or will be by next summer) let me know if you are interested.  I always want there to be someone there that she knows.

Omaha Bound!

So excited for my Mississippi State Diamond Dawgs!  They are Omaha bound for the 1st time since 2007.  I remember watching that year, Big Sister was 6 months old and my nephew was like 2 or 3 months old. They napped together on the floor as we watched our Dawgs. They played AWFUL but at least they were there.

One day, mark my words, one day, I will go see the CWS in Omaha.  It won't be this year or any year soon but one day!!  Right SS #1?

Go Dawgs!

This team is special.  They have a heart for the Lord and great leadership.  They grind each and every day.  They baptized one of the players on the Sunday of a weekend series back in May.  Pretty special if you ask me.

Omaha Bound.  Still nice to say it!

Summer Camp

I feel like Big Sister has grown so much over the past year.  It's so hard to believe but this afternoon she leaves for her first time at summer camp.

So proud of her 3 quarters for some reason.

I think I'm more excited than her because I went to this same camp as a kid. And wish I could go back now.  I know she will have a great time.  It's only Friday afternoon to Sunday morning.  Then, next year she can go for the entire week, if she wants.

I'm going to miss her and I know she's going to miss me but I know she's going to have a great time.

My big girl!

Annual Water Day

We had our (I think) 4th annual Loper Water Day on Memorial Day.  This year it was held at Mom and Dad's for a change.  We had a homemade slip and slide, regular slip and slide, and a kiddie pool.  The bugs were pretty bad but I think everyone had a good time.

Payback is coming Big Sister. Get ready!

And yes, I had my camera out and these are the only pictures I took.  And none with the boys in them.  Oh well, maybe next time.

Then, of course, we ate and hung out.  It's so fun to watch these kids (cousins) grow up together.  I can't wait to see what happens when we (as in the bro and sis in law, not me) throw in another boy to the mix.

Field Trip

I just realized that I never blogged about our first kindergarten field trip.  I'm glad I went but God Bless you kindergarten teachers and assistants.  50+ excited kindergartens makes you want to pull your hair out.  Especially at a place where they can easily be lost.

We went to the MS Children's Museum.  Totally a great place to go, just not with that many kindergarteners.  Granted, they have a great system of how to keep all the field trippers separated and not all end up in the same area at the same time.  It was only slightly chaotic.  Oh, and I'd lost my voice and was in charge of my kid plus 3 others.  Thank goodness the grandmother of one in my group showed up to help me. I couldn't yell or talk loud at all.  Fun times.  I think at one point, I just let them run and go crazy.  Man, I was stressing.  No fun for moms!

The only downside was that the kids only had about an hour to play.  Then, we all went to see a puppet show.  It was really really good and had a very good moral story, BUT it was an hour long.  And close to when our kids are used to eating lunch.  So by the end of that, they were all ready to eat their arms!

We left the museum and headed to the park next door.  It had rained the day before so it was a bit muddy but not too bad.  We all ate lunch and then let them play on the playground for a little while before loading up and heading back to the school.

The kiddo and I stayed in Jackson to run some errands.

Overall, I think they all had a great time.  Just a bit of craziness for the chaperones.

 These girls are crazy!
