Thankful Monday

Today, I'm thankful this girl has learned how to swing all by herself.  It's been a loooong time coming.  I'm thankful she's such a good little mama and always helping out.  I'm thankful that she *mostly* minds.  I'm thankful she's not fearful but slightly timid.

Today, I'm also thankful for this bundle of sunshine.  She is the BEST baby and sooo laid back.  AND, she rolled over, unassisted, yesterday morning.  I'm thankful she goes to sleep on her own, mostly without a pacifier or being rocked (although that sometimes makes me sad).  I'm thankful she just chills that sometimes you forget she is in the room!  Terrible, I know.  But man, she's just that good of a baby.  And, I probably just jinxed myself too.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and some much needed time together.  We decorated the house (which took 2 days longer than it used to).

Yeah, I'll admit.  There are times when I've about had it (usually around 8 or 9 at night) and I'm ready to beat somebody, but I'm so thankful my kids (still hard to say that in the plural) are healthy and happy.

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thanksgiving!

http://blogs.mccombs.utexas.edu/the-most/2010/11/24/happy-thanksgiving/

This year I am thankful for soooo much.
Friends, family, health, jobs, church, and so much more.

I'm thankful I live in a country where I'm free.  We had a speaker at our church recently who escaped from a country where he was not free.  Not free to do or say the things he believed and he and his family barely escaped. I cannot imagine.

So as I say Happy Thanksgiving, take a moment to think of all the things you are truly thankful for!

I'm thankful for an almost 5 year old who has been on green (good) apple for 2 weeks.  That's almost unprecendented at our house and I love it.

I'm thankful for a super laid-back 3 month old who just goes with the flow!  And our flow is crazy!  I'm thankful she's finally sleeping so well (most of the time). She's brought another level of joy into our home that I can't imagine NOT having!

So Happy Turkey Day to you and yours!

What are you thankful for this year???

Happy Birthday Holly

I wrote this exact post 1 year ago today and it still holds true! Every word of it!!
*******************************************************************

Today is the Sis in law's birthday.  I won't give away her age, but she's older than me!  hehe!

She's an awesome, cool mom who just goes with the flow.  She's a brave soul who is usually behind a camera taking amazing pictures.  She's so patient that I'm envious.

She's my parade going, event hopping, tomato cup loving, Bulldog cheerin', horse showing, encouraging, event planning, family lovin', dirt pile referee, uber creative, Bible verse teachin', blog readin', t-shirt wearin' sister in law.  But most of all, she's my friend.  And a rather good one she is.  You can always count on her.  Always.

She loves her family and the Lord.  2 pretty awesome traits, if you ask me!

And, she's got some GREAT stories.  I miss our daily walks to catch up!!!

Thanks for joining our family so many years ago.  We all wish you the Happiest of Birthdays!!   And many many more!

Music

During the day while I work, I usually always have my iTunes playing or my Pandora stations.  I like working with a little music.

When a random song comes on, there is often a memory associated with that song.  Whether it be something from a movie (Top Gun!), a memory from high school (No Doubt), or something you remember about a person who is no longer living on this Earth.

That happened to me a couple of times this past week.

So here are a few examples.

This one frequently comes on my Pandora 80's station.
I think of many movies but the main one is the Hangover.

You can't tell me that somewhere around the 3:16 mark or so, you have not killed that drum solo in your car or at your desk on your air drums.

Another random that seems to come on my 80's Pandora station (seeing the theme here?) is Take My Breath Away and Highway to the Danger Zone.  I can't post the video for Take My Breath Away because it's a little dirty. I think that was the first sex scene I ever got to watch in a movie.  And Tom Cruise was hot back then.  Now, he's just crazy.  Good actor, just crazy.

Highway to the Danger Zone is one song that I can remember exactly what happened at that moment of the movie.  Good times.

I think I have posted this one before but every single time I hear it, I remember exactly where I was and exactly who was singing which parts.

My advisor in college passed away a few years ago and was very instrumental in their Community Theater in Starkville.  The entire cast and crew of the SCT sang this song as a celebration at her funeral.  It was powerful.  They sang through tears and laughter.  It was a beautiful moment and I boohooed through every minute.  Now, every single time it randomly comes on, I get all teary-eyed.  I sing every word and play it loudly.  All for my dear sweet Lora.  She is missed by many!

Ok, I think that's enough randomness for one day.  I still get all teary when I hear Laura Story's Blessings on the radio!  Gooooood stuff there.

Happy weekend!

Thankful Thursday

thedailybalance.com

Today, I am thankful for friends.

The ones you know you can call anytime.  The ones who are there no matter what.  The ones whom you can pick up right where you left off, even if it's been months.

I honestly feel like the past 3 months have really been a blur.  I don't recommend going back to work with a non-sleeping 6 week old.  But, after the hubby being out of work due to Mother Nature back in the spring, we could not afford for me to not get a paycheck any longer than that.  I really think Moms should get at least 12 weeks PAID maternity leave.

Back to the last 3 months, I am sorry if I have not been the friend that I should have been.  I am learning that my time is valuable and I can't do everything for everyone.  That's no excuse for being a bad friend though.

Just know that I'm slowing getting the hang of things and getting back to our new normal.  Plus, work has been super crazy with no end in sight.

So to my true friends out there, THANK YOU.  You know who you are.

12 Weeks

So Baby Sister was 12 weeks old yesterday.   I was telling someone last night that I think I have blocked out the last 3 months due to lack of sleep and just trying to survive.

Now that I have some pants I can fit into and actually wear a belt again, I am starting to feel normal again.

And, the biggest change of all is that my sweet baby girl is FINALLY sleeping all night.  She's had her moments before where she slept for long stretches and even a few nights she's slept all day.  For the past week, she's consistently slept from 9:00 pm to 6:30 am.

Can I get a HALLELUJAH AND AMEN!

I never realized just how much I was barely functioning.

Thank you baby girl!

I have no clue how much she weighs because we (luckily) haven't been to the Dr. and aren't scheduled to go until Dec. 1.  If I had to guess, I would say she's 13 pounds or so.

I have no clue what she is supposed to be doing at this age but she's just about mastered the whole heading holding up thing.

She still ADORES her Big Sister. I am sure that will change in time but for now, I am loving that.  I was drying my hair before work one day this week and Baby Sister was laying on the bed just kicking and playing.  Big Sister came out of her room and the first question she had was where was her sister.  She immediately laid down on the bed beside her, held her hand, and starting talking and singing to her.

Can you say MELT MY HEART?  I think time stopped.  Sweet moments!

Ok, here are the boring details.

Diaper - Size 1 diaper, but will be moving up soon.  I said that at 9 weeks too?  At night, she wears a size 1/2.

Weight - Already said, no clue.

Clothes - Mostly all are 3 months. She can still squeeze in a 0-3 but not many.

Activities - Big Sister and I got her 1st belly laugh last week while Daddy was out of town.  So love that sound.

Eating - She takes a 6 ounce bottle every 3 hours or so, except at night.  She gets 6 ounces plus some cereal in it.

Ok, I think that's all the boring details.  We are looking forward to the holidays with family.  Things will be much different with 2 kids, just like everything else.  I'm learning...

Thankful Thursday

In a world as crazy as ours, I am thankful for my right to vote.  I exercised that right on Tuesday.

So blessed.

While not everyone or everything I voted for or on was the same as the majority, but it was my voice.

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Swamped

Y'all!  Sweet mercy, I am busy.

Work is crazy and I don't think I've been this busy in the entire 4 and a half years I've been there!

I would love to blog more but I just can't find the time.  There is so much I need to write about but these days, I prefer sleep.

So bear with me.  I hope it will get better.  And soon.  Life with 2 kids is so much more hectic.  I know people have done it and survived with 2 or 3 or 4 kids but it's tough, especially in the beginning.

I'm just lucky I make it out the door with pants on and shoes that match.

I promise, I will do better.  Just not promising when.  Both kids are asleep right now so I am heading that way too.

On the up side, baby girl will be 3 months (12 weeks) on Thursday.  So hard to believe.

Thankful Thursday

Everyone on Facebook has been saying the things they are thankful for each day of November. I like that but just can't find the time to post every day like I used to.  I prefer to sleep, which doesn't happen much.

So I'll just stick to Thankful Thursdays.

This Thursday I am thankful for 2 beautiful and healthy daughters, healthy (mostly, even though he thinks he's OLD and falling apart) hubby, healthy parents and in laws.

In a world filled with cancer and sickness, I am thankful for healthy.

Thank you Lord.
